The National Health Service (NHS) continues to evolve and whilst huge progress has been made during recent years to improve the range and access of services - together with reducing waiting times - we cannot afford to be complacent. Patient’s expectations are increasing and coupled with the intention to shift services from secondary care to primary care traditional ways of delivering acute hospital services are being challenged.

As the overwhelming majority of all patient contact with the NHS occurs in general practice, it makes sense to improve patients’ access to an enhanced range of services in primary care closer to where patients live yet at the same time maintaining the proud traditions of the NHS.
